This job is very hard, somewhat dangerous, but very fun and rewarding. You are ultimately responsible for collecting and disseminating information on a company or individual to uncover facts from fiction about personal or legal matters. Performs surveillance, stakeouts, takes photos and notes, performs background checks, and compiles information into a report in anticipation of litigation. In cases of infidelity and cheating, detect occurrences of cheating, unlawful acts or infractions of adultery in private establishments or hotels, and seeking proof and examining the evidence before compiling the information for the client.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Drake Star Detectives enter at the Cadet level and will be trained how to be an effective and professional detective or investigator. Some of the duties and responsibilities of the career are to: Uncover facts about legal, financial, or personal matters regarding a person or company.
Provide pre-employment verifications by uncovering records of a subject's prior arrests, convictions, and civil legal judgments; telephone numbers; information about motor vehicle registrations; records of association and club memberships; and social networking site details. We also investigate computer crimes, such as identity theft, harassing e-mails, and illegal downloading of copyrighted material. Recover deleted e-mails, files, and documents. We are skilled in investigating intellectual property theft by developing financial profiles and carrying out asset searches while keeping abreast of Federal, State, and local legislation, such as privacy laws and other legal issues.
When we search for missing persons, we provide assistance in criminal and civil liability cases, insurance claims and fraud cases, child custody and protection cases, missing-persons cases, and premarital screening. Investigate fraudulent workers' claims.Investigate individuals to prove or disprove infidelity. Perform undercover surveillance and take photographs. Utilize photographic and video cameras, binoculars, cell phones, and GPS systems, detectives gather information on an individual and collect evidence and compile in a report for the client. We have to perform our due diligence which we must perform undercover operations such as evaluating the performance and honesty of employees by posing as customers or employees. We must question persons to obtain evidence for cases of divorce, child custody, or missing persons, or information about individuals' character or financial status.
Some undercover tasks and tactics may include searching computer databases, credit reports, public records, tax and legal filings, and other resources in order to locate persons or to compile information for investigations. We write reports and case summaries to document investigations and alert appropriate personnel to suspects' locations. In finances, we have the fiduciary responsibilities to count cash, and review transactions, sales checks, and register tapes in order to verify amounts and to identify shortages, expose fraudulent insurance claims or stolen funds, investigate companies' financial standings or locate funds stolen by embezzlers, using accounting skills. There are also duties in the field of security and private body guarding such as warning troublemakers causing problems on establishment premises and ejecting them from premises when necessary. Monitor industrial or commercial properties to enforce conformance to establishment rules, and to protect people or property.
As far as law enforcement goes, we will observe and document activities of individuals in order to detect unlawful acts or to obtain evidence for cases, using binoculars and still or video cameras.We try our best to obtain and analyze information on suspects, crimes, and disturbances in order to solve cases, to identify criminal activity, and to gather information for court cases where we may be called to testify at hearings and court trials to present evidence. At other times, we apprehend suspects and release them to law enforcement authorities or security personnel and often confer with establishment officials, security departments, police, or postal officials to identify problems, provide information, and receive instructions. We conduct private investigations on a paid basis and write reports or case summaries to document investigations and prepare investigation or incident reports.
